Part-time position in Los Angeles, CA

Compensation: $23–$28 per hour, plus gratuities and performance incentives.

Overview

Fun Surf LA, a premier surf school established in 2016, is seeking enthusiastic and safety-focused Surf Instructors. You will provide private and group lessons, teaching ocean safety and surfing techniques to guests of all ages and abilities in a fun, secure, and encouraging environment.

Requirements

• Proficient swimming and surfing capabilities across various ocean conditions.
• Minimum of 3 years of personal surfing experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional surf instruction experience.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or commitment to obtain within 30 days).
• Lifeguard, ISA, or comparable certifications are highly advantageous and qualify for additional compensation.
• Optimistic, patient, with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Physical capacity to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors for extended periods.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional in conduct and appearance.

Primary Duties

• Deliver beginner and intermediate surf instruction for private and group sessions.
• Ensure outstanding customer service, making every participant feel secure and encouraged.
• Handle preparation and takedown of surfing equipment (boards, wetsuits, shade structures).
• Monitor sea conditions and make safety-first judgments.
• Maintain equipment and report any damage or loss.
• Uphold a professional company image on the beach and in all communications.
